We did this sea defence from Jarrah wood from Australia, which is Eucalyptus tree. It is a very hard wearing red wood, allowing this sea defence to take a battering and still last hundreds of years. A lot of work, but really worth it when the finished product is complete. Here is some before and after shots, and the last picture is of the trench over 6ft deep which we dropped the sleepers into. In the after pictures you can only see half of the full size, as the other half is fully submerged under the pebbles.
